Whats the best way to paint a ceiling?

Should I mask off the walls? Use an edger?Whats the best way to paint a ceiling?
Well, it depends on several things...

If you will be painting the walls next, then don't mask anything. Paint the ceiling, and when you go around the edges with a brush, fill in the ceiling color right onto the walls, about 1 inch. The only thing you'll need to be careful of is paint dripping on the floor. Then, when you paint the walls, you can cut in at the top of the wall.

If you won't be painting the walls, then I would recommend hanging a very light plastic over the walls. Use your masking tape and place the tape as close to the ceiling edge as you can. Roll the paint on the ceiling, and then cut the edges in using a 3 inch, high quality brush.

Edgers you can purchase work well if you practice with them, but they leave a very small gap--they are meant for cutting in wall color, not the ceiling color. So, whether or not you use one may depend on whether you are using a new ceiling color, or the same color.Whats the best way to paint a ceiling?
all you have to do. is cover all the thing you have at you room, then cut the edges with brush and with a roller paint the rest or the ceiling.... but if your not to good just call me and i will laugh .. just kidding good luck
You will be happier if you put the blue painter's tape around the edges and brush paint the first few inches inward. After that, rolling is a breeze. I would recommend you get the ceiling paint that goes on pink, then turns to white when it dries( if you're painting the ceiling white)
if you are not good at cutting in freehandedly then mask and use a roller, dont forget to prime! it does make a difference!
Mask off the walls. And use a roller as much as you can especially if you have a textured (e.g., cottage cheese) ceiling.
