When you paint a room, do you paint the ceiling too?

If you want to, yes. Just be sure you don't put it all on in one coat (if you want it thick) because it will drip down the walls and onto the floor. The edges and corners are hard, so be sure to get it all, but just be careful not to let it drip. I would suggest painting the ceiling a lighter shade of the color you're using so the color doesn't make the room seem overwhelming. When you paint a room, do you paint the ceiling too?
no, you leave it white

or the original colourWhen you paint a room, do you paint the ceiling too?
i think it looks fresher to do the ceiling as well even if the colour is ok.,makes you feel you ve done the job properly too!do ceiling first its best to work your way down .emulsion on ceiling and walls gloss satinwood or eggshell on woodwork.p.s a tip a lighter shade on the ceiling will make the room look higher .
usually u dont but hey if u wna then fo for it id leave it simple and go with white though
Yes, usually same color as the walls or lighter.
I didn't. It didn't need it.
yes, paint the ceiling first
Yes, but it should be a much lighter shade of the wall color. Dark ceilings feel oppresive.
Not usally if the cieling has a bumpy surface, but if it is flat enough you can if you want to.

If the room is your bedroom,

Try using a different color or paint stars or a cool design that might help you fall asleep.

If it's a baby's bedroom paint a little baby picture on the cieling!! I've seen it done before.
if you want to
if it needs painting, then yes. will help the room look fresh and new. most times, new paint on the walls will make the ceiling look dull and dirty, so a fresh coat of ceiling white is a great idea.
If it needs it or if you desire a ''change''.
I paint it if it needs it or if I am chnging the color of the ceiling.

I like ceiling white most of the time though.
Paint it white, it will make the room look larger.
No
That's up to you. Most people paint it white or a pale co-ordinating color.
yes and no, only if it needs it or if you just want too.
Depends, if it's for me...yes

If it's for a customer, whatever they want.
ya because u can look at ur favorate color people will give u comments put some of those glow in the dark stars
yes maybe not the same color but you definitely paint it
Of course. But, a cool effect is to paint the walls whatever color(s) and then paint the ceiling an off-white. That brightens up the room and gives the illusion that the ceiling is higher than it actually is.

The hard part is cutting in the color at the ceiling corner. Paint the ceiling first, including any multiple coats, and let it dry well before starting the walls (if you make an error, you want to be able to wipe off the color from the white ceiling). Use a small brush (1 inch or so) and a steady hand to apply the color about 6 inches to a foot at a time to do the edge. Come back with a bigger brush (2 to 3 inches) to make a bigger border. Then do the rest of the walls with a roller.

I highly discourage using painter's tape to make the transition from the wall to the ceiling. I have found that the paint tends to pull the paint off when you remove it, causing more work to reapply the paint and a lumpy surface where the paint was pulled off.
Of course, or it wouldn't match, imagine a red room with blue ceiling. However if it was like light blue with white, then it wouldn't matter.
no!!!! unless it's the kind of ceiling that u can paint. like the flat smooth kind
I usually don't if you do I would use a lighter color otherwise it tends to shrink the room.
I would!

..and if it was mine I'd get creative, by contrasting the walls! I'd use Lime Green on my walls and White on the ceiling! It'll make the room look bigger!
I did, with a lighter color than the walls. It looks nicer than having a white ceiling or ceiling with the same color as your walls...
Yes, and the skirting boards

if a job needs doing, do it completely
no you do not
If it needs to be painted, then yes, you do. Or if you want to change the color, yes you do. And you paint it before you paint the walls, otherwise, you risk getting little flecks of the ceiling color on the wall.

If you are painting the ceiling the same color as the walls, it's important to know that the ceiling will absorb 20% less light than the walls. Which means your paint on the ceiling will look darker than on the walls. So, to avoid this, choose your wall color and then choose the ceiling color the same, only 2 or 3 shades lighter, which you'll find on the sample color chip.

Also, use ceiling matte paint on the ceiling. Don't use a gloss or even a semi-gloss. Your best bet for ceilings is the flatest mattest paint you can find. Primer also works, if you want to save money.
um.... if it needs painting, and you want to.....
If you want to change the color of the ceiling you can its all up to you. you dont have to though.
