What could be the reason for ceiling paint to bubble and chip off?

The paint on my living room ceiling is bubbling and chipping off. There is no moisture involved, because it it happening on the interior. What do I do about it?What could be the reason for ceiling paint to bubble and chip off?
Sorry to be the contrarian, but it is moisture. Water leaking from almost anywhere will find it's own route and sometimes shows up far from its source. We had a tub leaking in a rental that was in the rear of the unit and affected the paint by the front door causing a stain on the ceiling. The water simply travelled through the studs til it found a place to pool. If you are in a single story, check your roof, your gutters, around the vents to make certain they are all well sealed. If you are in a two story, check the pipes under sinks, around the toilets and the tub/shower for condensation, moisture or pooling water. If you find nothing, the paint was probably applied to drywall that was moist in the first place. You can simply chip off the flakes, prime with Kilz or bin and repaint. What could be the reason for ceiling paint to bubble and chip off?
If the ceiling is starting to look like potato chips flaking off, you probably have latex paint over oil based paint. If you want to test it, take some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and rub an area of the original paint --- if no paint rubs off of the original layer, you have oil paint.

Roof leak. That occurs from the water build up and the wall board getting wet. Get a roofer to check it out. Then get the area repaired. It will cause mold if not treated.
It could be moisture - think about if there could be water leaking in the room above it.. But it could also be from not cleaning/preparing the surface well before painting. Also, putting an oil based paint over top of a latex based paint will also bubble.
It could be you are using an rubber based (latex) paint and the first coat is an oil base? Also drywall sealer can be bought in both kinds, which could be the cause. I can't say for certain without being there, but if it wasn't occurring before, it probably is not from moister. Good Luck
The only time I experienced this is the one time I used water based paint to go over existing oil based or lead paint.
ditto moisture
use a good primer over the funky paint .it sounds its too hoot in your living room .anyway use a satin paint over it .you will be happy..
