When painting a room with color do you paint the ceiling the same or do you paint it white?

The ';cool'; or ';in'; thing to do right now is to paint the ceiling the same colour as your walls. Especially if it's a dark colour - it will NOT make the room look smaller - that is a myth!


My friend has a small house and she painted her bedroom and dark chocolate brown, she did the ceiling too and it looks great! It was such a warm and rich colour that it looks amazing! If you use furniture that is too big for your space it will make your room look smaller - it's not the paint that makes that difference its the furniture.

A lot of people prefer a white. I'd like to recommend a 'warm' white. IE: one with a yellow base...sorta pale pale buttercreamish...as opposed to a cool one (like blue undertones). My second recommendation would be to go straight up on the fandeck card your wall color is on. My own walls are all buttercream. The trim is two shades up on the card, and the ceilings are another two shades up from the trim. Looks great and get many compliments (even from building and paint contractors). Good luck!
it is entirely up to you but make sure it is a very light colour.
A lot of interior decorators recommend that you paint the ceiling a few shades darker, so that the light will reflect off the walls and show them up better...





My self, I perfer white ceilings to reflect the light downwards, not on the walls.

White or a lighter shade; It breaks up the colors and a dark or colored ceiling makes the room look smaller - unless that's what you were going for. All one color has the same effect as painting the enitre room white - it washes it all out. Two toned and even 3 tones are nicer, check out some samples of rooms that look similar to yours and compare the color options - don't forget your funiture and take into account the carpet/floors.
whatever you like will be fine these days but don't forget that if you have low ceilings you might want to stay on the lighter side. if not... you'll always feel as if your ceiling is coming down on you. darker works better for high ceiling.

Yes,you can paint it that color your painting the walls.Just coat the ceiling white.Or you can paint it the same color as the room.I did that and it came out pretty.Make sure you don't knock off some popcorn wall on the ceiling it gives you cancer if you inhale it.(Asbestos)But your paint on the walls will be wonderful.:)
white ceiling could make the room more brighter.


when you paint your room with color u could use any color u like and paint the border with diff color. That makes it more beautiful
you can do what ever you want its your room. alot of people keep it white, others paint the same color i prefer to use a lighter shade of the same color a much lighter shade but not white it doesnt flow together
