I have never tried it but it can be accomplished by painting one foot sections of each color of the rainbow. You can even curve the lines and leave the background white. The colors you need are purple, red, orange, blue, green, gold.
Practice before you start to see what it will look like. Try paper first then try it on a peice of wood. Remember the colors are basic and they will dry darker than when wet. You may be able to overlap the edges of each color if you let the first one dry first. It is a little more time consuming but will look more realistic. Just make sure that each color is completely dry before you start the next one.
